La Mauriane is not an estate in the strict sense of the word; it is a selection of parcels from Château Rigaud, one of the best known names in the Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion appellation. This cuvée was created in 1997 under the guidance of Pierre Taix, the last generation of a family that has owned the estate since 1850. The two parcels of this vineyard of about 4 hectares are certified in organic farming and occupy two different soils: the limestone plateau which extends that of Saint-Émilion and the clay-limestone slopes which border it. Dark, intense colour. Powerful nose, very rich, spicy and straightforward. Ample, fruity and very fragrant on the palate, evolving towards a long finish with fleshy tannins.
