The Despagne family has been linked to St-Emilion for almost 500 years. Château Grand Corbin-Despagne, run by François Despagne, covers 28.79 hectares north of St-Emilion on ancient sandy and sandy-clay soils over iron crasse. The vines are composed of 75% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are old, with an average age of 37 years. The vineyard has been managed organically since 2010. The wines of Château Grand Corbin-Despagne are classic in style and age beautifully. They express complex notes of red fruits. As they age, they evolve towards spicier and truffle notes, supported on the palate by the finesse and smoothness of velvety tannins.
