In 1865, Maurice Hennessy, the great-grandson of the company founder, came up with the idea of classifying his cognacs according to stars. His three star Cognac of that time is known today as Very Special. Hennessy Very Special is a harmonious composition of eaux de vie from the four best vineyards in the Cognac region.
